This project reimagines the parking area of a Canada Post distribution centre, transforming a 4,200 m² expanse of asphalt into a structured, landscape-driven environment that accommodates a range of uses.
Set within an industrial context defined by heavily paved front-yard parking areas, our proposal responds to this condition by widening the planted buffers along the edges, establishing a green corridor through the centre, and introducing shade through strategic tree planting to mitigate the urban heat island effect and strengthen the site’s canopy coverage.
The proposal accommodates 103 parking spaces, including 95 reserved for Canada Post and 8 for other tenants. A high-solar-reflectance coating further helps mitigate the urban heat island effect, while 16 EV charging stations and 40 bicycle racks support a more diverse range of mobility options.
Together, these interventions transform an essentially functional infrastructure into a landscape framework that contributes to the broader requalification of the area.
